Traveling Teacher

We are currently accepting applications for the 2013-2014 school year.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teach math or reading to K-12 students in a library, in a student’s home, or at the Palos Verdes facility
  • Deliver one-to-one lessons using a variety of ETS materials
  • Monitor student progress and make adjustments according to individual students’needs
  • Maintain detailed written records of teaching sessions
  • Establish a positive working relationship with students’ parents
  • Support students with diverse abilities/backgrounds:
    • ELLs (English Language Learners)
    • Students with disabilities
    • Low-income students
    • High-performing students
  • Adhere to SES program requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Past teaching and/or tutoring experience
  • Reliable mode of transportation
  • Flexibility with tutoring locations (in-home, multiple libraries, etc.)
  • Willing to undergo a background check
  • Proof of current TB test
  • Attend a one-day training session
  • Regular access to the Internet

  • Advanced degree
  • Strong subject specialization
